all the small things
Don’t want to get all mooshy gooshy (rhymie stymie!). Here is a list of all the little stuff I miss from back in the states.
Not on the list? Don’t be sad…Theo didn’t even make the list and he’s littler than you!
- Real Ketchup - Peptang just doesn’t cut it.
- Roads - we may have a few pot holes in our roads, but they have a few roads in their pot holes.
- Internet - see my previous post
- Clean air - its only bad in Nairobi…not in the sticks. But boy oh boy is it bad in Nairobi
- Deodorant - not for me, for everybody else
- $1 = $1 - all this money exchanging has my brain hurting
- Cold stuff - Njeri served me a glass of water the first night we were here. You couldn’t even call it luke warm. She wanted me to drink it. I wanted to wash my face with it. Ice is a concept quite foreign here.
- Toilets - don’t get me started…
- Milk - you have to taste it to really know what I mean, but this also goes in the “Cold stuff” category
I’m sure I’m forgetting some…
Aw, toughen up!

Jeff - December 9th, 2007 at 10:57 amNo “long drop” stories, Jeff! I certainly had my own ‘cultural’ experience this weekend in Kiambere, for the first time since we came here in 1993!!!!
Karen - December 9th, 2007 at 11:00 amPeptang looks like radioactive sweet & sour sauce. If only it tasted that good…

David - December 10th, 2007 at 9:01 amDear Jerod,
Right now I’m eating ketchup and drinking ice cold milk, while driving down the newly paved street, typing this message on the internet (on my phone), smelling good. I bought the ketchup with $1 dollar, which equaled $1.
Sincerely,
